Tracklist
Liner Notes
The opening three minutes are a lesson in efficient scene-setting: MPxMC's atmospheric "Distant Shores" at 0:15, Blandy & Soul Cat's "White Horse" at 1:00, Ezel's "You Got Worked" at 1:15, Maae's techno pulse at 1:30, and then Alan Braxe & Fred Falke's "Intro" at 2:45 — the track is literally called "Intro," and its placement sixth in the running order is a meta-joke the archive rarely makes. Three Drives' "Greece 2000" appears in two remixes back to back at 5:00 and 5:15 — a trance classic from 1999, reimagined for the present but carrying the full emotional weight of its era. Like "Children," it represents the archive's ongoing conversation with dance music's history.
The signature tracks arrive in formation. Morgan Page's "The Longest Road" at 10:00 — its sixth appearance, always functioning as a threshold. Mood II Swing's "Closer" at 16:00 — its seventh and final appearance in the archive. After this, it retires. A track that debuted in Mix 01 and anchored seven sessions across five years, quietly stepping aside without ceremony. Demarkus Lewis' "Body Tonic" at 19:00. Andy Compton's "That Acid Track" at 25:00 and again at 33:00. X-Press 2's "Say What!" at 34:00. The full orchestra, assembled one more time.
Fred again.. & Skrillex & Four Tet's "Baby again.." at 37:00 is one of the biggest electronic releases of 2023 — born from their legendary Boiler Room set that went viral and redefined what live electronic performance could look like. MK & Dom Dolla's "Rhyme Dust" at 44:30 is the other era-defining track. Together, these two selections place the archive squarely in the contemporary moment — this isn't a DJ living in nostalgia. They're at the front of what's happening.
Jamie Jones' "My Paradise" in Vintage Culture's remix at 47:00, Felix Jaehn & Leony's "Waking Up" at 47:15, Chris Lorenzo's "Mami" in the SOSA UK Remix at 48:45, Jonas Blue & Felix Jaehn's "Weekends" at 51:30 — the peak section stacks commercial dance music with floor-ready energy. Fred again..'s "Kammy (like i do)" at 56:15 and LF SYSTEM's "Afraid To Feel" at 59:15 sustain the intensity as the mix begins its gradual descent.
ODESZA's "This Version of You" in Joseph Ray's remix at 1:03:45 opens the closing passage — atmospheric, widescreen, the sound of someone looking back over a landscape they've just crossed. Tassilo Hagström's "Berlin" at 58:30 and Namatjira's "Abdominal" at 1:10:00 provide deep techno counterweight. The mix closes with Maj's "You Should See Me in a Crown" played twice — at 1:06:45 and 1:12:45. Billie Eilish's original reimagined as house, used as both penultimate and final track. It's a confident, almost confrontational ending: the DJ crowning themselves with a track that demands to be seen.
Mix 27 is the most concentrated expression of everything the archive has been building toward — deep house roots, tech-house energy, historical references woven through the present tense, and the confidence to know that seventy-three minutes is exactly enough.
